Bio:
Uncle Joe’s Medicine Show hails from upstate NY’s
legendary funk rock and jam scene and the band
formed in late 2001 in Fredonia, NY while attending
college. Uncle Joe’s relocated to Atlanta Georgia at
the end of 2005, ready to bring a new sound full of
energy and groove to the South. With a sound that
fuses vintage funk sounds with a soul lyricism, the
band evokes the days of when groove and feel were
first and foremost.

With influences from Stevie Wonder, Isaac Hayes and
Curtis Mayfield to Wes Montgomery, Eric Clapton and
Steely Dan, Uncle Joe’s Medicine Show has a sound
way beyond their average years on this earth of 27.
They have made no mistake in getting familiar with the
groove and getting a handle on the raw live elements
of jazz, soul and rock. Their live shows are the right
blend of original material and familiar old school
favorites.

Their members are: Brian Didsbury-Fender bass &
vocals; Jeff Jeswald-Organ, pianos & vocals; John
Halpin-Guitar; Gabe Fleming-Drums. As a part of the
State University’s media and audio programs they
immediately excelled in recording and performing, self
producing the 2003 release 'Sonic Tonic' with their
own production company, The Jammers & The
Brothers Dig. The band sold over 1,000 copies of the
disc while playing festivals, clubs and events during
and immediately following college. After moving to
Atlanta Uncle Joe’s Medicine show began building a
name for itself among the jam band scene, opening for
local funksters Entropy and gigging regularly around
town at Sweetwater Brewery and The 5 Spot. They
recently finished production of their newest release,
'Get Under It', which is available for sale online at
cdbaby.com. The disc is full of hooks and melodies
that rival the best Blue note, Stax and Motown years.

Along the way, Uncle Joe’s Medicine Show has gigged
with funk legends, 'The Average White Band' and they
received local radio airplay in Western NY on WCVF
Fredonia. Voted best band in Fredonia NY’s 2003
Battle of The Bands, they were local favorites at the
Caboose and the Old Main Inn where they brought in
hundreds of college students every month. In 2003
and 2004 their music was featured on PBS’s Homework
Hotline across NY and for Bluff Magazine, a gaming
publication. In April of 2008 Uncle Joe’s Medicine
Show performed at the 2008 Sweetwater Brewery 420
Festival, where they opened for Local favorites The
Last Waltz and Hammond B3 legend Ike Stubblefield.
Stubblefield was quoted as saying “These guys sound
like old school New York!” Indeed they do. Uncle Joe’s
will be performing around Atlanta in support of their
new release and will continue to bring a blend of funk,
jazz, rock and soul to those of a newer generation.
They are an unstoppable funk machine that will let
nothing stand in the way of their pursuit of musical
integrity and pure groove.
