Jason "Jay Criss" Christopher was born and raised in
New Jersey. At a young age, Jay Criss was moved from
city to city and Jay has temporarily settled in many of
Jersey's hoods including Elizabeth, Burlington,
Paterson, and Union City. After witnessing the death of
his older brother and other close family members, Jay
decided he would live his life to the fullest. At the age
of 13, he began rapping and producing music with his
group "Imperial." The issues of everyday life and the
economic struggle his family was going through
motivated him to create and sell his first mixtape
album entitled "Nothing 2 Lose." With the money
generated Jay was able to buy his first real music
equipment. This was the beginning as it allowed him to
create new inventive music that would become his
signature sound. It was this sound that connected him
with production and recording company "Screwface."
While with Screwface he began selling beats to
support his "spending" habit. At the age of 18 Jay
went off to college to try something different. It was
here he established his ties in Paterson and helped
start his team "Lowlife Is Music." However, despite his
positive moves, the streets would not leave Jay's life
as his fellow rap companion and cousin Terry "Teflon"
Murray was brutally gunned down. Soon after Jay's
daughter, Ayanna, was born and has served to
motivate him for the better in addition to the lost lives
of his brother and cousin. Jay Criss has now dedicated
his life to creating music for the masses. He has a love
and passion for Hip-Hop and is striving to invigorate
the game and leave his legacy for future generations
to remember.
